600 meters downstream from the hostel (Only open in the summer) is Yana Yamanaka, which is run by Noburusan. He is ~80 years old…and is open when he feels like it. So, this restaurant is not dependable. Last reservation 6:30pm, advance notice is advised.  Telephone number (in Japan) 0289-64-8852

He makes all of the soba and udon noodles by hand, all homemade. His signature dish is a very delicious grilled trout dish with sauteed onions and Japanese sauce called Nanban. Although he doesn’t catch all the fish himself, they do come from the river along the restaurant and hostel, Black River.
